Learn new things

Look on the bright side

Unlike learning new things that take time to get your head around, I found learning to live well on a shoestring possible through many easy steps. I’m using this blog as a record of how I make my money go further day to day.

I don’t like the word budget so I don’t use it. I, like most people don’t keep a budget. I don’t use a spreadsheet where one writes everything down, the bills and other expenditure, in columns. However I do keep my eye on what I spend and check my bank statements. I do find it illuminating to look at my bank account, especially my credit card records to see where money is going. My first step is to see if there are patterns in my spending. I could see my habits and this helped me see some possibilities where I didn’t have to spend as much as I did. I was definitely able to identify where I’d had a splurge. I could also see how often I went to certain places and how much I usually spent. It is food for thought to see your patterns and think about whether I really needed to spend as much or so often.
