Last week I wrote about all the interesting people I encountered while out and about on foot. I called this impromptu meetings, that is, unplanned and unexpected. It didn’t end there, the impromptu fun continued. Unexpectedly a friend invited me to accompany her that evening to a solo exhibition opening by an artist she evidently admired as she already owned three of his paintings. The evening turned out to be so much fun. Firstly I realised I had seen other work by this artist only the day before in a major exhibition of paintings by local Art Society members; what a coincidence. The artist’s solo exhibition was inspired by the Beatles with all paintings, each with a sense of fun, produced while he listened to Beatles albums. Such a great concept! A musician dressed liked John Lennon played guitar and sang Beatles songs. The venue, a small bar appropriately called ArtBar was perfect. Not only cosy and intimate the ArtBar had the added bonus of a view to the ocean in the distance. During the evening I met the ArtBar owner and like him immediately. With such a happy and friendly vibe it didn’t take long for people to be up dancing. Dancing releases endorphins and so once again I went home elated. Then, at a loose end a few days later I decided to revisit the ArtBar on my own for a drink. As I walked to the bar I met a couple I knew out walking their dog. Even better, telling them where I was headed they decided on the spot to join me. Fantastic, unexpectedly I now had company. The ArtBar owner remembered me and warmly welcomed us. He was delighted I was introducing others to his establishment. Fun times can happen spontaneously without much planning. The rewards were immense and it hardly cost a song!
