Living well on a shoestring

Over the last week I’ve spent a good deal of time and money at the dentist. It started with a toothache that wouldn’t go away. Toothache definitely works in getting me to ring the dentist and make an appointment. One thing lead to another and before I knew it I was having root canal work. Root canal work means also needing a crown and all up it costs thousands! Pain in my mouth and in my pocket! I really have no ‘Living on a Shoestring’ advice for how to avoid the cost of dentists. Instead I would advise not to avoid them but bite the bullet and visit the dentist. I go at least annually. I believe regular treatment is worthwhile in the long run. I don’t want to end up having to spend tens of thousands on my teeth as I hear some people do because they have not taken enough care of their teeth. My mother who wore a full set of dentures implored her children to “look after your teeth”. Regular trips to the dentist is how I attempt to do just that. This is one of those times when I see that spending the money is worth the investment. Keeping your own teeth is a lifelong commitment. Keep smiling!
